It's great to have you on the expert group. It might be worth a quick update on where we currently are with this spec.

Here is a list of the issues that we are currently working to get into the early draft of the spec:
http://java.net/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?reset=true&jqlQuery=project+%3D+JMS_SPEC+AND+Tags+%3D+eg

I think we've achieved a consensus on many of these: the next step is to get them written down into the draft spec for
further review. Getting a draft written is one of my main tasks for the next few weeks. The act of writing things down
into the spec will no doubt shake out various points of detail which will need to be resolved.

Four of these issues relate to MDBs and, following general agreement here, have been forwarded to the EJB EG for their
consideration.

Probably the biggest outstanding issue I'm trying to make progress with before the early draft is a simplified API. This
is essentially a second attempt: we had previously looked at whether we could use CDI to smooth over the complications
of the existing API and come to the conclusion that we couldn't. That's why there has been discussion more recently
about offering a new API (*additional* to the existing API) which is simpler in itself and more amenable to CDI
injection. I'm hoping to publish some more ideas, er, soon.

After the early draft I hope to be able to ask the expert group for more proposals for JMS 2.0. This is also when I hope
to be able to properly review some of the various community suggestions made in JIRA.
