Current state of implClass

Hi,

We've recently been using the implClass attribute to extend the
functionality of the JAXB generated classes. From reading mailing list
archives & forums, I get the impression that this is more of a hack right
now than anything else, and several people have mentioned a better system
for the JAXB 2.0 spec. Out of curiosity, has anything materialized for a
more robust system for supporting customizations on these generated classes?
