Hello, Marc,

you were

> wondering if there's a timeline for the first non-beta release of JAXB,

This is becoming on of the frequently asked questions here on the mailing
list.
It's a question I myself also have.

But I'm afraid it is much more frequently asked than answered.

The last information on this I'm aware of was contained in a mail by
Ryan Shoemaker - JavaSoft East <Ryan.Shoemaker_at_Sun.COM>
dating Thu, 21 Nov 2002 11:33:06 -0500, Subject: "Re: Unmarshal
performance",
which had the lines:

> Our current plan is to FCS mid 2Q03, but that is subject to change
> based on what happens during the JCP process. We're closing in on
> Proposed Final Draft of the specification, then there is a review
> and voting process at the JCP. There are a number of things that

> (ie non-Sun JCP issues)."

As I've learned since, "FCS" abbreviates "first customer shipment".

The mailing list archive doesn't make deep links particularily easy,
but if I got it right, you may be able to access that posting yourself
through

At our site here, we discussed using JAXB, but then dropped it for the time
being in favor of a
hand-knit solution. In our (my) judgement, there is currently no sufficient
basis for planing
when we can release our software product to our customers, were we to use
JAXB
(given the license situation).

Still, I'd really like to know from someone who knows, whether there is any
better information now
than that which had been (more or less) available last November. SUN - How
far have you come?

<tease>Or is it the case that a JCP simply cannot be made subject to
planning in the first place?</tease>
