A new project has been started on java.net at
http://jaxmail.dev.java.net/
First build along with docs is available in the CVS. This is based on
JAX-RPC 1.0, please see FAQ in docs for details.
Here is a synopsis :
"Some developers want to use SMTP and POP as the underlying transport
protocol under the Web Service to leverage existing messaging
infrastructures. Application developers can use the Internet email
infrastructure to move SOAP messages as either email text or
attachments. Using SMTP/POP to get some notion of asynchronous behavior
on the transport layer. This project adds the POP/SMTP transport layer
under the JAX-RPC Reference Implementation available under SCSL from Sun."
Feel free to join in as developers and add to the codebase.
