Acegi (Now Spring Security) is what I've used in the past. I have an older
entry on it here:

http://blogs.steeplesoft.com/using-acegi-security-with-jsf/

I might try revisiting that now that Spring Security 2 (?) is out.

To your original question, you might look at this:

http://weblogs.java.net/blog/edburns/archive/2006/03/repost_using_ja.html

And that's about all I know about JAAS. :P

The point about IRC is a good one. A lot of us are sitting in the channel,
including Ed, though he's really busy with JSF 2, so your mileage may vary
there. :P
