Hello.
Even though I see the advantage of going forward and use newer JDK versions
I want you to also consider real world situation in big companies like Credit Suisse.
Unfortunately it takes years to get JEE container updated - at CS the standard Java
Application Platform update based on WLS 12 with JEE6 and JDK 7 is still in
preparation and should become available for applications in fall 2014.
Because WLS 12 with JEE6 only contains JSF 2.1 we usually have to deliver newer
JSF RI version as part of the application (updating the container is to complicated).
So from our point of view JDK 7 is ok, but if JDK 8 is needed at runtime we will be
cut off of the latest development on JSF RI for some time.

Subject: [jsr344-experts mirror] NOTICE: Next version of JSF spec beyond 2.2 requires Java SE 7
Hello JSF spec users,
I'd like to get this out there sooner rather than later. The next
version of the JSF spec beyond JSF 2.2 will require Java SE 7 as a
minimum. I'd really like to go with SE 8 (think Lambdas and java flow
definition), but I think that's a bridge too far at this point. Please
feel free to comment as you will, this "users" list is open for anyone.
Thanks,
Ed
