I've just uploaded to our project documents area
(
https://java.net/projects/javaee-spec/downloads) drafts of the Java
EE 8 Platform and Web Profile specs that we'd like to submit to the
JCP for Early Draft review in order to give the public a checkpoint on
our work towards Java EE 8.
The changes to the specs (beyond those contained in the recent Java EE
7 Maintenance Release) are listed in the "Revision History" sections
of the documents. These include the new requirements to include
JSON-B and MVC in both the full Java EE 8 Platform and the Web
Profile; the clarifications around the semantics of metadata-complete;
and clarifications around packaging requirements. (Note that these
updates do not include any related to the currently in-flight
discussions around Proposed Optionality of CORBA).
In addition, I've updated numerous sections to reflect updated
versions of the component specifications. Note that these are not yet
complete, insofar as we expect that some of the MRs that we are
anticipating may result in version updates (i.e., due to API changes,
such as use of repeating annotations, etc.)
Please let me know if you see any problems with submitting these
drafts to the JCP (or catch any errors, typos, etc). Otherwise I plan
to submit at the end of next week.
thanks,
-Linda
