We're now a month later and I haven't seen any more votes for this term.
Nobody else interested in what the term is for this concept?
Since it has been open for exactly 2 months now, I'd like to close the
voting for this issue and conclude we have established as *working terms*:
* Identity store - the thing where usernames and groups/roles are stored
* authentication mechanism - the thing that interacts with the caller and
delegates to the identity store
Everyone agrees?
