Well the jsf-tool runs on custom input and yet doesn't output anything nor does it complain or log a problem. As it isn't considered to be a supported tool I have no further questions:-)
However, I turned to XSLT and wrote two style sheets that take a faces-config.xml (http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-facesconfig_2_0.xsd namespaced) such as mojarra/trunk/jsf-api/doc/standard-html-renderkit.xml and generates tld, UIXxxx.java and XxxxTag files in their respective packages and locations.
I can make the stylesheets available to anyone interested in them. Will try to have my jsf extension project available shortly. Working on populating my http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee/web-facesconfig_2_0.xsd namespaced document.
