This is now solved. The problem was that there was on old verion of the
SAX parser contained within one of the jar's in the war file. The server
was using this SAX parser instead of its own and the older version was not
able to succesfully parse the glassfish-resources.xml file. Once this jar
file was removed, the resouces were created fine.
