Is it still forbidden to use thread APIs, file access and blocking I/O in

When we started with EJB back in the times of EJB 1 and EJB 2, it was
forbidden for security and stability reasons to use thread APIs, file access
and blocking I/O inside of enterprise java beans.

Does this limitation still exist in EJB 3.1 or may an EJB now use the full
Java SE 6 API set?

Unfortunately I cannot remember in which of all those specification documents
this limitation was written back then, so if it still exists, it would be
nice if someone could post the specification name and chapter number. :-)

Thanks!

Markus
