I see several issues with the user forum since the 'migration'.
*
The From field now says "noreply" instead of the actual id from the poster.
<ak> this has been fixed, the return address is now "forums_at_java.net".
* When reply in the forum, the Subject changes to use the first line of the
reply (both in the forum and in the email created, making it very hard to
just depends on user@ alias to follow the thread. ) *
<ak> I'm not seeing that behavior. The replies all appear to have Re:
<original subject>. If you can provide a link as an example that would be
helpful.
I can't find a way to attach any additional info to the post in the forum. *
<ak> this forum package does not have an additional info field. You could
edit the original post to add content.
The Preview feature in the forum is broken. It only shows the first line. *
<ak> this is a known bug in the application. We are tracking progress and
will implement it when its fixed. We are considering turning off preview in
the meantime.
In the forum, instead of saying the # of post the person has made, it just
shows Online status. I always think the # of post from the user is a very
valuable inform regarding the user.
<ak> This is default behavior of the package we are using. I agree that
# of posts is more useful than join date. We'll look at the effort
involved in changing this.
I hope this can be fixed soon. thanks Anissa.
Thanks for the feedback. Just fyi we have a forum set up for feedback on
the new package, the "Forum Help" forum. The support team is subscribed to
that forum so they'd readily see posts. Thanks!
