This is probably more of a NetBeans question, but...
Here's an idea (I'm not sure if it will work)... Try adding one or more command line arguments to the app client "run" properties. (Right-click on the app client project, navigate to the Run panel, and add something to the "arguments" field.)
Then run the client from NetBeans and see how it invokes its own scripts. That might give you an idea of how to invoke the script from outside and still pass arguments.
