I see. It's ok for ejb reside in the war, that makes this an ejb in war case. What it was complaining about is ejb and connector co-existing. Anything in the archive which could make the server think this is a connector module? You mentioned there is no "ra.xml". Does the file end with ".rar" or any class annotated with Connector component annotation @Connector?
