Thin/JavaSE JMS Client or Glassfish v3 on the Client? How to?

Hi all,

I have created a JMS Factory and a Queue on my Glassfish v3 server.

I have some small boxes with limited ram (<= 1GB) and want them to be clients
for the jms queue to execute certain tasks.

So far, I would be creating a SSH-Tunnel from the boxes to the
Glassfish Server, so I could
use the Glassfish JMS server like it would be local.

My Question:
 - Does anyone know of a good tutorial or blog post about setting up a
_JavaSE_ JMS client?
 - Do I have to use OpenMQ for the client side? It's the JMS standard,
but are the implementations compatible to each other? Could I use the
standard JMS Queue in Glassfish and attach a Apache ActiveMQ consumer
on the client side?
- Glassfish v3 is modularized: Does creating a standalone java-se
client save a lot memory or should I simply create a Glassfish v3
instance on the clients and hope glassfish loads just the minimum
amount needed to fulfill the task? Is it worth the effort to go to
JavaSE for that?

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Dominik
