This will work fine as long as you only have *one* Glassfish instance hosting all of your sites. For anything more than trivial cases you will need some sort of proxy and Apache is the best. If you have many different production websites for many different customers you will not want them on a single instance (especially for high volume sites, but also for ease of configuration and assigning of resources such as memory). One mans bitter pill - may be true for some but Apache is a hell of a lot easier to configure than Glassfish! Default Apache installations are *trivial* to configure for a single virtual host acting as a proxy to a GF listener port. Let me know if you need an example...
