Greetings Community,
I am new to the forum and will appreciate help regarding some of the problems I am encountering with GlassFishv3 and NetBeans IDE 6.9.1.
I have experience in programming and want to learn Java and all the other associated languages.
I installed glassfishv3 and was able to start the domain, then the admin console, and then deploy the ''hello, <person>" war file found on the web.
I then installed the NetBeans (java_ee_sdk-6u1-jdk-windows-x64) then, had problems getting the default domain started for glassfishv3 (port not listening). After trying to get the port to listen, then I attempted an unistall of glassfish3 but it didn't complete cleanly. I then attempted to manually clean up the files, but I think I missed some because the install completed but the domain would not start.
I then tried to start with NetBeans first and then installation of glassfish.
After going through uninstalls, installs, and much patient-frustration. I restored my system to a point where I was able to get it working. I wanted to restore to a point completely before all of this effort, but my restore points were unavailable.
At this point, I am able to use GlassFishv3 and NetBeans. 6.9.1 but with some problems. When I try to build the tutorial project (HelloWeb - JavaBeans) it shows that my JDK is 1.6. This is where I am confused, because I think I accomplished the prerequisites.
Somewhere through my frenzie of downloading and installing, I have two different versions (or at least directories) of GlassFish: c:\glassfishv3 and c:\program-files\glassfish-3.0.1.
I am really excited to get started with Java, but I just want to get over this hump.
Respectfully,
Aaron Orrell
