Have you turned on the connection validation ? Please see http://blogs.sun.com/JagadishPrasath/entry/connection_validation_in_glassfish_jdbc for the how-tos. If you turn on the FINE level logging for resourceadapter/connector, the server.log might point out any issue after the connection validation is turned on.
