Your console / database connection may not be set to UTF-8 but latin1
or something like that.

You should use a logger instead of System.out.println, I think its
possible to specify the encoding
there.

You can specify the encoding to the database when connecting to it,
although I heard rumors
that there are problems with mysql in that area, but as I'm using
PostgreSQL so I'm
not sure they really exist.
