As a workaround, can you try the ZIP installer:
http://download.java.net/glassfish/v3/release/glassfish-v3.zip
Simply unzip and start the default domain using "bin/asadmin start-domain".
Optionally you can position JAVA_HOME to a working JDK 6 install in glassfish/config/asenv.conf
