I believe you may be encountering the following bug:

Try using the CDI-native @Named annotation instead of @ManagedBean

We are planning on getting this fixed, and is directly related to JBoss Seam 3 Faces -- (See the first item - Injection, for full support of the Injection lifecycle in all JSF artifacts.)
