Okay, time for an update. I haven't had time to create a test case yet. I determined that the problem is not the use of JAWR, which I thought it may have been since JAWR uses log4j directly while our app uses log4j through commons-logging.
Our app relies on an internal web framework, which also uses commons-logging. If the issue is related to both the framework using commons-logging and the app using commons-logging, I won't be able to submit a test case.
Any ideas on things I may be able to try and report back on?
