Thanks for your response, Kedar. To which user are you referring? The user that created the domain? All files/directories that get created when the domain is created have the same permissions. It's when an app gets deployed that the permissions on the directories that get created during the process of deployment are coming up different.
I wouldn't necessarily expect GF to *change* permissions, just curious what determines the permissions on, in my particular case, the /opt/SUNWappserver/domains/domain1/applications/j2ee-modules/<myapp> directory (and everything underneath).
