As a workaround I remove the following sql statement in the tutorial sql:
-- For Persistence order example
INSERT INTO EJB_ORDER_SEQUENCE_GENERATOR
    VALUES ('VENDOR_PART_ID',1);

Since I am starting with the bookstore example I won't need it for now. The build is then successful and outlines:

[sql] 172 of 172 SQL statements executed successfully
