Hello GlassFish and SailFin Community Members:

Today is the second Anniversary of Project SailFin! SailFin adds SIP
and Communications capabilities to GlassFish. The project has come a
long way since then. There have been two significant releases: 1.0
(Sep '08 with JSR116 compliance) and 1.5 (Feb '09 with JSR289 and
Clustering). We are delighted to have attracted talented developers,
subject matter experts and many users to SailFin community in the past
two years.

Today, we are announcing a new sub-project called SailFin CAFE
(Composite Applications Framework Essentials). Admit it, SIP Servlets
development can be daunting to programmers who come from enterprise
and web applications development backgrounds. CAFE simplifies this
steep initial learning curve. We took a leaf from how Annotations and
API simplifications have simplified EJB and Java EE development
productivity. A CommunicationBean, when injected into a web
application, opens up new possibilities for users to interact with
each other and the application. The application can connect to and
take advantage of a media server. We have included the jVoiceBridge (http://jvoicebridge.dev.java.net
) media server, some reusable B2B UAs and many other useful widgets.
CAFE can be used to add voice, video, presence and IM capabilities to
any existing Web and Java EE application.

Once again, Ericsson contributed significantly with lots of code and
specialists who know how to build IMS services development frameworks.
Binod has been working on CAFE as a background project for several
months and came up with the injection paradigm. There are many more
who have been putting in hours and contributing good ideas, during
their spare time. Big Thank you to all who brought CAFE to life.

Needless to say, we are very excited about CAFE. We hope you like it
and use it too. Would love to hear your reactions and thoughts.
