From the message, it seems the server think appserv-rt.jar is an ejb jar instead of a library jar.
Can you check in the ear built by the netbeans, what's the application.xml contents? Does it declare the appserv-rt.jar as an ejb jar? If application.xml is not present, can you show us the top level contents of the ear?
