That's a great addition to the code. Thanks for posting it.
My post wasn't directed at FileServlet specifically per se (it's a common solution to the problem) and what it did or didn't do. Rather, it was directed at the fact that it has to be done at all, and you'd have to write 450 lines of code to do it all when the container (in theory) already HAS done this.
