You seem to have followed the steps correctly. Just to verify, does the name for the custom realm (in the domain.xml entry) same as somePackage.myRealm as mentioned in your application's web.xml?

<realm-name>somePackage.myRealm</realm-name>

Could you please attach your domain.xml entry pertaining to auth-realm?
