Prelude b22 is going further.
Images can be closed and they stay closed when the updatetool is restarted. However when it first comes up it goes into a long non responds period for which ever image is at the top of the list
With proxy it timed out on the connection to the repository
direct it showed me the list of available updates and then when I tried to install metro and ejb 3.1

The ejb 3.1 came down by itself; it is the metro install that is coughing the above troubles.
