There is quite a range of positions on the role of OSGi in the industry, from "just an implementation layer" to the "new programming model". We don't have a religious position on OSGi; it is currently a very useful implementation layer for the AppServer implementation team, and for partners that are integrating/replacing pieces. This is all very important! There are also some use cases that can leverage direct access to it, but I think we (the industry) still need to learn quite a bit before reaching a concensus / best-practice on how many people need to know how much of OSGi.
One thing I can promise is that we will have the same "user-focused" attitude in dealing with this technology that we have used elsewhere in GlassFish.
