I thought the two were same but when I started looking at OS support I found that
Sun Glassfish Enterprise Server runs on or is supported on Sun SPARC Solaris 8.0 , 9.0, 10.0
(see

whereas Sun App Server 9.1 runs on or is supported on Sun SPARC Solaris 9.0 and 10.0 (see installation manual).
We currently have SUN Sparc Solaris 8.0.
We are now wondering if we can run this app server here ?
