Yes. I was considering using Java System Web Server with Heartbeat for failover.

I may need to go back and review some of the documentation. Maybe I'm over thinking this. I thought, after reading about configuration of the load balancer plug-in, there is more going on than a simple redirection from the web server.

Something in the back of my mind keeps telling me there must be a caveat. I would feel a lot better if I could find someone else that has something similar in production or at least some documentation.

I wondered if I could just set up the web servers with heartbeat. The inactive node could be on standby and the web server service stopped. When heartbeat detects a fault it could grab the shared IP, and start the web server. The web server would be bound to the shared IP address, so when the stand by server kicks in, all the clients still go to the same IP address.
