just an update to this, I've come across this Google project http://code.google.com/p/rest-api-code-gen/ with REST describe and REST compile as REST/WADL tools, sounds promising but it looks like no .Net support (Java and Python etc are supported).

I'm going to continue digging for a bit, writing all boilerplate code for potentially two languages really is a last resort I'd rather avoid :)
