The JBoss local JNDI name syntax is not defined by the specification so it's not portable. All you need to do is define the EJB dependency within the component environment that the utility class runs in. See https://glassfish.dev.java.net/javaee5/ejb/EJB_FAQ.html#POJOLocalEJB
