I did not follow about DAS redirecting to port 8080 of the other instance. Could you explain a bit more about this?
DAS is not part of the replication setup in GF v2. It is not highly available. When DAS goes down or the machine running DAS fails, one has to get DAS back up in order to perform configuration and administration of the system. DAS does not perform any redirection of requests to your app to the instance running your app.
As such DAS failing does not have impact on the cluster running your app. So its failure should not affect the availability of your app.
