Could you check if your path contains the Java Home defined path to bin dir?
Also, after setting up the path to JDK one often has to open another
command window in xp in order for it to recognize the path change.
From the output your path is pointing to a JRE and not the JDK.

Set my JAVA_HOME user environment variable to the installation directoryof my JDK(6), unpacked/installed the binary, (which is fine, exists at c:\glassfish), and run "lib\ant\bin\ant -f setup.xml" from glassfish directory. All as per instructions.
