Many thanks for the detailed response.

By the way i noticed that, with Java 6, JVM determines the default amount of memory it uses according to total amount ram and swap space of the entire machine, not what is available in the specific solaris zone. So if there is a considerable amount of resource difference between a specific zone and the entire box, running java fails if maximum heap size is not defined:
