Hello Ryan,
I would recommend you to go through the documentation available for
installing and configuring the HTTP LoadBalancer, which is available at
-
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3679. This is the High
Availability Administration guide and you can specifically refer to the
chapters 4,5 and 6 on this topic.
I would also strongly recommend you to use the latest Web Server
available : Sun Java System Web Server 7.0; though HTTP LB is
/supported/ over versions 6.1.x and 7.0.x. You can leverage high
performance improvements apart from an overhauled Administration
interface which eases the configuration management of the Web Server.
Note that the Web Server is available for /free/ to download.
You can download the Web Server from -
http://www.sun.com/download/index.jsp?cat=Web%20%26%20Proxy%20Servers&tab=3&subcat=Web%20Servers
Which version of IPlanet Web Sever are you using?. Note IPlanet Web
Server 4.1 is now into End Of Service Life. (EOSL) and IPlanet Web
Server 6.0 is under End of Life (EOL). Given this it's imperative that
you look for upgrading your Web Server.
regards
Pankaj
