Could you provide us more information? [Any exceptions in the server log, how and when the RA opens the connection to the legacy system] Could you let us know if you were able to find out who was closing the connection? If the RA opens the connection in RA.start() or in a ManagedConnection, how were you able to determine the connection was closed?
Do you see any difference if quickstartup is disabled? [Add <jvm-options>-Dcom.sun.enterprise.server.ss.ASQuickStartup=false</jvm-options> to your domain java-config and restart domain]
