apparently not... I did, however, have to run the bootstrap-all command several times as not everything downloaded completely.
After all that, build completed, configure-runtime worked, and... Voila, glassfish runs. Have tried it with both jdk1.5.0 and jdk1.6.0 and it works. Thanks for all your help everyone.
