Without a redeploy, I'd agree that it shouldn't work. But with a redeploy, I think it would since the redeploy should remove any generated artifacts (notably compiled JSPs).
Unless you're suggesting that the domain is configured differently, and incompatibly, in the config.xml when running JDK 6 vs JDK 5.
