I think this is a very interesting question.
But what if you want to integrate it within Glassfish? It's always better to deploy it to the server with your Enterprise Application, so you don't have to maintain the Application Server and on the other hand a bunch of java daemon programs. Which is the best way of spawn a process from withing "something" deployed to Glasfish?, a managed JMX bean?
