Do you have multiple versions of JDK installed on your machine?
Before you run the java -jar command, to unjar the glassfish v2 installation program, add
<jdk5_installdir>/bin> to your PATH variable to ensure that you are calling the correct version of "java"....
In addition, you also need to point your JAVA_HOME to you JDK 5 installation.
