GlassFish is run as the user who issues "asadmin start-domain" command. It is a given that a user
"joe" can a start a given domain, if and only if the s/he has permissions to read/write into the
domain's folder.
So, you must not provide rwx permissions to the world for your domain. That's a recipe for disaster.
From what you are describing, this is an oddball case where the user who is attempting to start
the domain up has a read-only permission to the domain's config folder. It means that either the
user does not "own" the domain or something else is messing things up.
In any case, more information would help get to the bottom. Please send as much information as
possible (e.g. Platform, Build, Method to Install/Create domain etc.)
