However, and correct me if I'm wrong, the date format isn't the problem...it's the value that is (potentially) found. The format is fine. If I map to and query a date field, it works just fine...it just causes a problem when the value has a year of "0001" - even if the format is correct.

why isn't columnDefinition working?
