EJB 3.0 spec defines these lifecycle callbacks like @PostConstruct, @PostActivate, @PrePassivate and @PreDestroy for stateful session beans. Admittedly, they are not specifically targeted for appserver's life event, but you may be able to achieve the similar effects.
