Just one more note: our application [i]generally[/i] works with docroot at the end of the web app classloader. The load order difference occasionally causes issues that only impact deployments with this load order issue (e.g. Sun Java Web Server too) since changes to classes/resources in docroot get overshadowed by those in WEB-INF/lib/*.jar that are only intended to be defaults, for instance.
