First off, I looked at the blog you pointed to - it is not about using memory replication but about using 8.1 with HADB.
Let's check a few things:
Are you using GlassFish v2? Only this release supports memory replication.
Did you create a domain with the cluster admin profile? Using the cluster admin profile
sets various defaults correctly for memory replication.
When you created your cluster did you check "heartbeat-enabled"? This is needed for replication (and GMS) to work.
When you deployed your app did you use --availabilityenabled=true or check availability enabled in the admin GUI? This too is needed.
