Oh wow this is really interesting!
I was looking in the admin console at the JDBC Resources and for some reason the ilda resource had no associated target. Yet when I deployed with TopLink as the provider it had no problem locating and creating the tables, lookups, queries etc with that resource.
When I switched to Hibernate it complained that the resource ilda did not exist.
