Wouldn't the getLogger() call result in
getting a logger with name: "mycompany.core.services.TestBean"?

I agree that once you set the "parent" logger, this should work, but somehow it does not. Probably
this way of doing it needs exact names of the loggers to work. Can you set the exact name
of the logger in admin console and see?
